I have been enjoying painting subjects in dramatic lighting lately! I was attracted to Aven, the subject of this painting, for a few reasons: her splash of green hair, the dramatic lighting, and the way the beam of light hits her eyeglasses struck me as very fitting for these days of COVID 19. I think have been enjoying painting subjects in dramatic lighting because in some philosophical way I enjoy seeing my subjects bursting through the darkness into the light!
