I am proud to announce...
"Dilworth No. 2 - Joy for Uncertain Times"
is hanging in the National Liberty Museum (NLM):
“PHILLY’S FREEDOM - ARTISTS SPEAK OUT”
The NLM's submission criteria for the “Philly's FREEDOM” exhibition included answering the question:
“How do you define “liberty”? What does it mean to be “free”
FOLLOWING IS MY ENTRY ESSAY:
“Art brings people together.”
Art has the power to give us insight into experiences, emotions, and identities that are not our own.
With my paintings, I try to tell stories that cross traditional barriers such as gender, age, income, education & race to help us understand the most important art of all — the art of being human.”
I love to paint people. The human face and figure is the most captivating subject for me.
I believe the beauty of Philadelphia’s Freedom is each person having the right and freedom to enjoy small glimpses of beauty in a world that has breathable air and clean water to drink. Having the freedom to bask in the sunlight at one of our public parks. Having the freedom for an elderly person to enjoy watching children play in the fountains of Dilworth Park or Logan Square are small bits of freedom that go a long way to brighten our citizens’ days. I paint everyday moments in life. I hope in some small way, I can improve people’s lives by having them escape their daily lives for a moment or two when they look at my art.
