“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
MAYA ANGELOU
Poet, dancer, singer, activist, and scholar, Maya Angelou is a world-famous author. She is best known for her unique and pioneering autobiographical writing style. Ms. Angelou shares my son's birthdate, April 4th. I discovered this when researching for her portrait. Her birthdate, April 4, also coincides with the death and assignation of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. with whom she worked as a civil rights activist.

My Multi-media Process
The "Maya" background is a compilation of quotes by Maya layered with color and texture. I create the background image digitally with photoshop. I then print, adhere, and prime the background on a 8x10 inch canvas panel. I paint the subject of the portrait with oil paint over the primed background.
I use the highest quality artist oil paint and varnish. The original multi-media painting arrives at your home framed and ready to hang.
I take every step to ensure the image is as accurate as possible to the original painting. However variations in color may occur due to monitor differences.
The Original Painting is sold. You can order canvas & paper prints in various sizes.
