"Woman With Silver Earring." For the many few weeks, I wanted to paint a modern version of Vermeer's masterpiece, "Girl with Pearl Earring."
Well, when browsing through all the muses on my trusty @sktchyapp. I discovered Dominque. I knew at once she was the 2020 inspiration for me.
For me, the allure of Vermeer's "Girl" is the way the young woman's torso is facing in profile, yet her head is turned to us the viewer as if we just called her name or something suddenly attracted her attention.
My goal with "Woman With Silver Earring," is to tell a story of mystery & strength. Dominque’s fierce, piercing gaze to the viewer is captivating, what is she thinking??? I hope my "Woman with Silver Earring" portrays the concept of strength, as well as mystery.
