“In Thought.”

I love this Pastel Pencil and Ink portrait on Paper. I hope you want to know what the subject is thinking about! I know I do! This is the first time I used Pastel Pencils for a portrait. I have a limited set of the Pastel Pencils. So I had to do a whole lot of color mixing. I achieved the colors you see here by cross-hatching! It’s a process where make small light strokes with a pencil or pen, rotate your paper and continue making marks until you get the desired effect!

Hope you like it! This original drawing is available as PAY WHAT YOU DECIDE! Suggested minimum is $50 (+shipping) for this framed and ready to hang original drawing!

“Red Legged Chicken”

My second portrait this week is of a chicken! Although I initially thought this may be a rooster! A shout out to all my artist friends who paint birds. Too hard. I painted This chicken/rooster because I was listening to an old Cat Stevens/Yusaf song, “Into White.” “Red-legged chicken” is in the lyrics. I recalled seeing a reference photo on the @sktchyapp. So of course I had to paint this chicken/rooster and give him/her red feet!

All the feathers gave me the opportunity to get “painterly.”

As I painted, I listened to all the old Cat Stevens/Yusuf albums - Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser & the Firecat, etc. etc.

Work in Progress! Time Laspe Video. 57 seconds.
