Graphite Only! Portrait Challenge.
It takes some discipline! I am participating in a #30Faces30Day Graphite Portrait Challenge sponsored by the Sktchy App.
Each day in January a new Face is released. (I do not choose the subjects. )
As of January 15, 2021, I have drawn 11 portraits of the 15. Each of the portraits is drawn with graphite lead. I am using 4B, 2B, and Graphite powder. I make the graphite powder with the dust from sharpening the leads!
I never thought about using graphite powder. But, I am loving it! It works really well for the skin tones!
Pencil, as a medium, has been a favorite of mine for a really long time! In high school, I won some sort of district-wide competition with a large-scale pencil drawing of a Native American male. The portrait still hangs in my parent’s living room!!!
Over the years, I got away from pencil as a medium. But, this 30-day challenge has taught me a lot. I think my drawings are improving. Each drawing ends up a bit different based upon the subject. I love all the muses and am thankful for the sktychy app and all the folks that lend their faces for artists like me to draw!
Stay tuned for the next 15 days!
I have to admit, I will definitely by sneaking in an oil painting or two, I miss color!
