“401 Years”
A Painting for Social Justice
My painting, "401 Years," has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with social justice. Visual artists, musicians, writers, and poets throughout history have expressed their sensitivity to social injustice. This painting is my humble attempt to add my voice to the struggles for social justice.
I want to acknowledge the 401 years of pain that so many people are feeling after the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery & Breonna Taylor. And to remember all the folks who share the pain of violence, of having the police called on them on their own property, and all the other indignities bestowed upon a person based on the color of their skin.
"Silence Is Not an Option," for those that care.
As always, I hope my paintings communicate the most important art of all — the art of being human.
Please enjoy this painting as much as I enjoy creating it. Let me know your thoughts!
