My Inspiration…
I drew “Marilyn” in honor of Women’s History Month. Marilyn Monroe is a woman who continues to appeal to folks for all kinds of different reasons. Some like her because she was sexy and beautiful; others because she was mysterious, funny & smart. There are people who adore her sensitivity and others who love the way she never stopped trying to make her life more fulfilling. For others - like myself - it is a mixture of everything that makes her so appealing, and the reasons continue as time passes by.
Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane Mortenson) was born June 1, 1926. She died August 4, 1962, at the age of 36 years old.
For some reason I always picture Marilyn Monroe in black and white, I think that is why I made her portrait in charcoal. But, I’m thinking I will make an oil painting portrait of her eventually!
