“Still I Rise”

For quite some time I have wanted to add the excerpt from Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise” poem to my series of poetry portraits. When browsing through all the muses on the @sktchy artist app. I discovered Rae. Her beautiful face immediately inspired me to make this painting.

I was honored when Rae saw her portrait, and that she loves it! And was happy to be my muse for this painting!

My goal with "Still I Rise," is to tell a story of strength and hope. Rae’s tranquil, yet, self-assured and knowing gaze is captivating. I hope my "Still I Rise" portrait portrays the concept of hope and enduring strength.
