“Abraham Lincoln - Portrait for Today”
Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in 1865.
Lincoln led the nation through the American Civil War, one of the country's greatest moral, cultural, constitutional, and political calamities. He struggled to preserve the country's democracy, signing the Emancipation Proclamation, bolstering the federal government, and promoting a national U.S. economy to deal with new and future technologies.
Sadly, the political, moral, and cultural climate has not changed much over time. Perhaps the memory of President Abe Lincoln will inspire today's patriotic citizens and leaders to do the work required to uphold the democratic experiment begun centuries ago.
As always, I hope my paintings communicate the most important art of all — the art of being human.
Please enjoy this painting as much as I enjoy creating it. Let me know your thoughts!
