“Raquel”

“Raquel” is my second modern-day version of Vermeer's masterpiece, "Girl with Pearl Earring." For me, the allure of Vermeer's "Girl" is the way the young woman's torso is facing in profile, yet her head is turned to us the viewer as if we just called her name or something suddenly caught her attention.

My goal with "Raquel," is to tell a story of mystery & strength. Raquel’s fierce, piercing gaze to the viewer is captivating, what is she thinking??? I hope my portrait of "Raquel" portrays the concept of strength, as well as mystery.
