The Story of "Women Who Shatter Barriers"
Ruth Bader Ginsburg - Dissent
I began my “Women Who Shatter Barriers” seres as a tribute to woman I admire for their courage, contribution, brilliance, and heart.
I painted Ruth Bader Ginsburg — Dissent as a commission request. So Ruth in her Dissent collar is sold. Prints are available on request.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a U.S. Supreme Court justice, and the second woman to be appointed to the position.
Born on March 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg graduated at the top of her class from Columbia Law School during a time when her law professors resented her for taking up a spot that they felt should have been filled by a man. She has championed for the rights of women, and men and fought for equal treatment of women in the workplace. Her fiery opinions and advocacy for gender equality and the fair treatment of women have won her the reputation as a modern day super-hero. She was appointed by President Carter to the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1980 and was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Clinton in 1993. RGB: The Documentary, released in May 2018, gives the public an intimate glimpse into the exceptional life of an exceptional woman. I had so much fun painting this portrait. Ruth owns many collars that she wears with her Justice robes. She wears specific collars for dissent and majority opinions. The necklace she is wearing in this painting is her Dissent Necklace/Collar.
I create the background images of the portraits digitally with photoshop. I then print, adhere, and prime the background on a 8x10 inch canvas panel. I paint the subject of the portrait with oil paint over the primed background.
I use the highest quality artist oil paint.
I take every step to ensure the image is as accurate as possible to the original painting. However variations in color may occur due to monitor differences.
The original painting is sold, you can order canvas & paper prints in various sizes.
