The Art of Figure Drawing!

From Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” to Picasso’s “Blue Nude.” Figure drawing is an art form that has been practiced for centuries. I love figure drawing, the challenges, the beauty and the history.

Traditional nude figure drawing typically involves live models posing for various periods of time. I spent hours and hours drawing and painting from live models in art school. Some of the models were excellent, some not so great! The goal is to capture the human form and create a representation of the model on paper or canvas. This approach has been used for centuries, and is still a “thing!” today.

Today, online technology has made it possible to access nude figure drawing in new and innovative ways. I mostly use an online membership site called “Croquis Cafe” which provides a plethora of models and poses for artists to draw and paint. I have a few favorite models, Vivian is one of my favorite models!
