Family

I am pretty lucky. I have both my parents in good health and good mind, I have one son, one daughter and one future son-in-law. My parents are from the Silent Generation, My husband and I are from the Baby Boomer generation, and my kids are the Millennial Generation!

Many differences in lifestyles and attitudes, but we have one thing in common, we all stick together and support each other. I am proud of my parents and proud of my children. And I am so proud that my mom, Nicole and I will be showing our art, along with 14 other artists and their families at the Manyayunk Roxborough Art Center's Generations Show on September 9, 2018.

About My Mom

JoAnn Venanzi. My mom is a talented seamstress, she studied Fashion Design at the Traphagen School in NYC before she was married to my dad. They have great stories about how she boarded with nuns and when my dad would visit her in NYC, he was not allowed in her room. She spent most of her young adult life studying tailoring under her father, Mario D'Angelo, in his tailor shop in Bethlehem, PA. My mom's greatest talent is sewing. She spent her entire career working as a seamstress. After she retired, I suggested she start painting because I knew she had drawing skills. One Christmas, I set her up with an easel and watercolors. And, she took it from there. She took classes, and made lots of beautiful paintings!

About Nicole

Our beautiful and talented daughter is a writer. She studied English in college and now writes professionally! Her first job was a producer and writer for ThoughtCatalog.com. She currently writes blogs and web content for a local marketing agency. Nicole has been a writer from the time she was 5 years old. Her early writings usually included creative illustrations. She doesn't consider herself a visual artist, but she paints and draws in her spare time. Making artwork, for Nicole is a way to unwind, relax and forget the rest of the world. I love Nicole's work, it is always imaginative and creative.
