Mindfulness—How Art Can Help You Pay Attention to the Present Moment...
"Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing. To pay attention to the moment, and not overly react or become overwhelmed by what’s going on around us."
I have been thinking about mindfulness lately, because one of my favorite aunts passed away this week. She was 93 years old, kind, gentle, beautiful, wise and smart. Although she was made to leave school in the 7th grade, she was a voracious reader and excelled at just about everything— including life. She personified the contemporary notion of "mindfulness."

Pay Attention and Increase Your Awareness to the Present Moment
Art equally involves the viewer and the artist.Just as art allows a form of self-expression for the artist, looking at art increases the viewer's concentration and ability to pay attention. For a few moments, you take the time to think and look. Look at the colors, the composition, the subject, the details. No distractions, just you and the artwork!
