You may notice, I have been making a lot of portraits lately. Here’s why:

• I love painting the human face. The face is fascinating to me. We all have the same elements - skin, nose, ears, mouth, etc. - but wow, how uniquely different all the components are arranged! It’s a beautiful puzzle of shapes and colors.

• My goal with portraits, of coarse, is a likeness to the subject. But, for me, it’s more. I always hope to convey an element of mystery - who is this person, where are they from, what are they thinking. Are they happy, are they sad, are they healthy. All my paintings hold a story of some type, I hope my portraits tell a story to you. One that makes you think of the subject . But, equally important to me is for you to think about your own life’s story.
