Additional infoThe Story of "Ice Skating."

Dilworth Park sits in the heart of Philadelphia, right next to City Hall. It is a relatively new park and it's a treat for young and old alike! I love walking around the park in the winter, as it is as vibrant in the winter as in the warmer months, thanks to the beautiful arbors and the Rothman Ice Rink! The Sunday afternoon depicted in this painting is a glorious sunny afternoon. So many folks are out enjoying the skating, coffee in the park and just having fun. No matter your skill level, ice skating if fun. From the tentative young girl in the foreground, to the boy racing around the ice on the right, to the young boy in the left, taking a moment of pause as he slides on his stomach into a friendly fall.

While taking a walk around the winter-land park we met a group of teenage girls from Eastern Europe enjoying a hot chocolate at the colorful outside tables. They will be the subject of my next painting, as there is a funny story around that encounter. I'll tell you when I make and post the painting!

Public parks are meeting places for folks from all different ages and backgrounds to hang out and relax. The ice skaters seen in this painting embody the purpose and mission of public parks. Beautiful views of the city and a fun day enjoying the winter fun!

I hope you vicariously experience a few moments of “wintertime fun” while viewing this painting. While making this painting, the folks skating on a Sunday afternoon remind me that simple pleasures still abound!

I hope you experience this simple moment in time and enjoy the painting as much as I enjoyed creating it!

The Original Painting size is 12x16 Inches. I use the highest quality artist oil paint on studio-wrapped stretched linen canvas. THE ORIGINAL PAINTING ARRIVES AT YOUR HOME FRAMED AND READY TO HANG.
