The Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop and its iconic YELLOW AWNING have been part of the Philadelphia Chestnut Hill Neighborhood’s walkable downtown for 54 years. In October 2019, the founding owners decided to close up shop and head into retirement I hope my painting of the beloved Cheese Shop keeps its memory alive for all the folks that enjoyed its friendly service and delectable dairy delights over the years.

About The Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop Painting
The composition of this painting was a bit ambitious with all the architectural elements. I have to say it was a challenge from the start.
Several months ago I had a request to make a painting of the yellow awning of the Chestnut Hill Shop. When I got around to venturing out to photograph the setting - the cheese shop was scheduled to close! The day I photographed the Cheese Shop, they were hosting a "Farewell" Open House for all their patrons, friends and neighbors. It was quite a lively day, and I was lucky to speak with the owners and their family and of course purchase a tasty container of their yummy cheese spread.
I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoy making it!
