The Story of "Dilworth Splash"

I loved making this painting!

The day this painting, "Dilworth Splash," takes place is is July 11, 2017. A typically hot summer day, with folks enjoying the sun and fun in the streets and parks of Philadelphia. So many kids and adults playing in the fountains around town. Colorful swim suits, kids creating all kinds of games. Chasing & splashing. The sun and colors so perfect!

I had my trusty Nikon with me and thankfully I walked through Dilworth Park. I took a zillion photos of all the people having fun. This painting is a result of my memories of that day.

Philadelphia is an awesome city. We have so much color, history and personality (Some good, some not so good.). I know I always say this, but I really love my adopted city and I love its array of beauty.

"Dilworth Splash" is my visual testimony to the awe and wonder I see all around us. Everyday folks, living life everyday. No news cameras, no big speeches, just people being people. It is an honor to bring my visions to you through my work.

Today, more than ever, we all need to appreciate one another.

Why Should You Care About This Painting. I think we can all relate to the joy and fun of cooling off on a hot summer day. The adults that are looking on, are vicariously enjoying the fountain fun as much as the kids. My portrayal of kids of all ages and sizes entertaining themselves on a hot summer day in the Parks of Philadelphia shows us the spirit, laughter, and happiness we can find, if we just take the time to look! Enjoy this moment in time.

I believe folks appreciate art in which they can see themselves and their own experiences. I also like to think art & music inspire us see beyond ourselves and our own four walls to enjoy a moment in time, where all our worries disappear.

What Should You Do. Please take notice of the art in everyday life. Go to a public park, listen to some local music. Go look at some local art. Not just my art, but any kind of art. Get crazy, look at art that is new to you. Look at art that you are familiar with. Use art to understand the crazy world in which we live. Use art to appreciate the most important art of all, the art of being human. Oh, and if you want some art for your home or office, invest in local artists, like me!

I take every step to ensure this online image is as accurate as possible to the original painting. However variations in color may occur due to monitor differences.
