The Story of "Laugh Now"

"Laugh Now" depicts a room of paintings by the Street-Art legend Banksy. Located in the Modern Contemporary (Moco) Museum in Amsterdam, the room I depict in the painting is one of several with the "Laugh Now" theme.

If you are a fan of Banksy, the Moco is the place for you. The collection is a private initiative by the owners to showcase modern and contemporary art. The owners have given Banksy the unauthorized exhibit he deserves with a vast number of Banksy's activist paintings, indoor art, and of course, his outdoor art. This museum is a special treat to see so many Banksys in one location.

"Laugh Now." The Big Idea.  I enjoy depicting the subject, "Looking at art," in my paintings. Observing folks digest all the various Banksy art in one place is crazy and overwhelming. And, yea, it doesn't hurt that the exhibit is in Amsterdam.

Why Should You Care About This Painting. Using the power of Banksy's art as a backdrop in my painting, I depict Bruce (my husband) as the "baby boomer" guy on the right, along with the  "millennial" guy on the left (whose name I do not know). I capture the juxtaposition of these two guys, practically mirror images of each other, immersed in the "story" of Banksy's activism. My portrayal of two differing guys from different generations, taking the time to experience art, reveals to the viewer that art has the capacity to help us traverse traditional obstacles such as age, income, education and race.

What Should You Do. Please go look at some art. Not just my art, but any kind of art. Get crazy, look at art that is new to you. Look at art that you are familiar with. Use art to understand the crazy world in which we live. Use art to appreciate the most important art of all, the art of being human. Oh, and if you want some art for your home or office, invest in local artists, like me!

The Original Painting size is 18x24 Inches. I use the highest quality artist oil paint on studio-wrapped stretched linen canvas. THE ORIGINAL PAINTING ARRIVES AT YOUR HOME FRAMED AND READY TO HANG.
