The Story of "Sidewalk Drawing'
As I explore the people and places around me, I look for moments of joy and sometimes sorrow. When I noticed the kids having fun with sidewalk chalk on this mid-summer day, I knew I had to capture this moment.
The girls are focused on creating an image with their chalk, the boys are creating games with their chalk. The adults are oblivious to the activity around them and are engrossed in their devices.
As I made this painting, I became more and more involved in the contrasting characters. The adults are enjoying some time to themselves on a beautiful summer afternoon. The kids are having creative fun. And, the thing I love most is how everyone is enjoying the day in their own way.
I hope the characters in this painting can transport you to a summer place of mind, and enjoy the painting as much as I enjoyed creating it!
