“Basil From My Parent’s Garden”
The final gardening months of summer are dominated by beautiful tomatoes along with the tomato’s herbal companion…BASIL!
I picked the basil in the painting, fresh from my parent’s tomato & herb garden. The basil is lovely! Fresh from the garden with its vibrant green puffy leaves! The beautiful scent of basil is lovely in the kitchen this time of year! My dad places vases of basil throughout their home for its naturally pleasant scent.
I did not originally plan to paint the basil. However, when painting “Tomatoes From My Parents Garden,” I mixed way too much green paint! I could not tolerate the idea of wasting all that lusciously green oil paint - so voila! You now see “Basil From My Parent’s Garden.”
As always, I hope you can escape your daily life for a few moments while looking at my art. I hope my paintings communicate the most important art of all — the art of being human.
Please enjoy this painting as much as I enjoy creating it. Let me know your thoughts!
